Josh Johnson, Chief Meteorologist for WSFA-TV 12 in Montgomery, stopped by Southside Middle School on Thursday, October 27 for the Red Ribbon Week assembly.  Red Ribbon Week is observed each October, commemorating the brutal murder of DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena in 1985, as a warning to all who might be tempted to get involved with the usage or sale of drugs.

Josh's brother, Chris, died last year of a heroin overdose behind a movie theater near Los Angeles, California.  His death devastated the family, and Josh brought an empty chair to show what their family gatherings will be like from now on -- missing his only sibling.

Southside Middle School is honored to have hosted media personality Josh Johnson for Red Ribbon Week.

The mission of the Tallassee City School District is to provide a quality education, providing the basis for students to become life-long learners as well as moral, ethical, and compassionate people. A partnership of staff, students, parents, and the community will prepare students to become responsible citizens and productive members of the communities in which they live.
