Tallassee choir receives top honors at Choral Festival

News Image
Tallassee High School's choral department is well known throughout the southeast for its quality and the amount of participants.  In a school with fewer than 500 students, approximately 250 of those students participate in choir -- a remarkable number.  In fact, more students participate in music in Tallassee City Schools than in all the athletics and clubs put together.
Five choirs from THS appeared at the Alabama National Fair Invitational Choral Festival, held on Monday at Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery.  The choral groups are under the direction of Ms. Amanda Anderson and Mr. Michael Bird. There were twenty four choirs in the competition, and Tallassee's Advanced Women's Chorus ranked in the top three.

The mission of the Tallassee City School District is to provide a quality education, providing the basis for students to become life-long learners as well as moral, ethical, and compassionate people. A partnership of staff, students, parents, and the community will prepare students to become responsible citizens and productive members of the communities in which they live.
