Softball wins tournament, now 10-3

The Tallassee junior varsity Tigers took first place in the JV Classic at Southside Field last weekend. The Tigers went 4-1 over the two-day tournament.

In the championship, Tallassee beat Beauregard 10-5 to win the trophy. This weekend was the first time back in action for the Hornets since the recent tornadoes in Lee County.

Tallassee opened play with a 7-2 win over Benjamin Russell on Friday. The Tiger's Reagan Gough pitched a perfect game in the win 15-0 win over Opelika that same night.

On Saturday, the JV squad dropped the first game of the day vs. Beauregard 7-6. They bounced back for a 13-4 win against Opelika before avenging their earlier loss to the Hornets for the championship trophy.

Tallassee batted .463 as a team during the tourney. Jenna Manning had 11 hits. Abbie Davis had 9 hits.  Brooke Royster had a 3-run homerun, a triple and 2 doubles with 9 RBIs. She picked up three wins pitching to improved to 7-3 on the season. Marlee Stewart added 7 hits and 6 RBI. Gough drove in four and won two games pitching to get to 3-0 on the season.

The JV Tigers are now 10 - 3 on the season.
