Mrs. Ghosh, our 7th Grade Geography and Civics Teacher, has conducted World Day event for 22 years!
During the first semester of classes, Mrs. Ghosh teaches geography. She covers government, economics, culture, and so much more about countries and regions all over the world. One of the culminating activities of the semester is World Day. Students choose a country to research and represent over the course of two days. Students complete an outline that guides their research and allows them to have a foundation for creating their presentation. Students use posters, PowerPoints, Google Slides, and many other presentation tools to display their research findings related to their country. Students bring their presentations in on the first day of World Day and present them to the class. Students use speaking and listening skills as Mrs. Ghosh prepares them for public speaking with this aspect of the project. The second day of World Day is a real treat! Students dress up to mimic the clothes worn in their chosen country and bring a food dish to share with the class! Students bring many different types of foods and wear some of the most incredible costumes--it is such an awesome day of learning and fun! Cultures from all over the world are represented, studied, and enjoyed as this project brings life and relativity to student learning!
Thank you, Mrs. Ghosh for such a treasured event year after year!
