Recently Tallassee City Schools purchased LIFE Station lifesaving medical supply cabinets and installed them in each of its schools. These were purchased through a state grant. According to Tallassee Fire Chief Travis Jones, “These kits are for large scale incidents. If an event happened at a school, school personnel wouldn’t have to wait on EMS to have lifesaving supplies to treat victims.” Chief Jones is a member of the Tallassee City School Safety Committee. He provided training to Tallassee City School administrators at a recent meeting on the Stop the Bleed philosophy (see Bleedingcontrol.org for more information). Administrators learned how to apply tourniquets, Israeli bandages, and chest wound dressings.
