Tiger Tidbits to Start 2022-2023 School Year
Welcome! We can't wait to see everyone as we near the beginning of a new school year at Tallassee Elementary. Below you'll find a few important notes as we get started:
Open House
August 4th we will host our annual Open House event for parents, students, and community members from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Join us to meet your child's teacher, get transportation information, tour the school, and get information about school meals!
First Day of School
Monday, August 8th is the first day of school for 1st-4th Grade students!
We will implement a Staggered Start for Pre-K and Kindergarten students. Only students whose last names begin with the letters A-L will come to school on Monday, August 8th. Only students whose last names begin with the letters M-Z will come to school on Tuesday, August 9th. All Pre-K and Kindergarten students will attend on Wednesday, August 10th.
First Week of School Drop Off
Parents will be welcome to walk their students to their classroom on the first day of school. After the first day, students will begin regular drop off in the car rider line. While in the car rider line, parents should remain in their vehicle. We will have school personnel to assist with helping students exit the vehicle and find their way to class.
Arrival Time
Students may be dropped off in the car rider line between 7:20 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. After 7:50 a.m., students are considered tardy and must be signed in at the front office by an adult. If your child plans to eat breakfast at school, they will need to arrive by 7:45 a.m.
Dismissal Time
Students will be released at 2:43 p.m. (car riders) and 2:46 p.m. (bus riders) daily. Please do not attempt to check out after 2:15 p.m. unless it is an extreme emergency. All car riders are picked up in the back of the school.
Meals
All students will have to input their PIN numbers to obtain a breakfast or lunch meal. Your child's teacher will provide the PIN number to you soon to begin practicing with them. We will have staff available to help with this during the first few weeks of school. There are no more free breakfasts or lunches offered to students due to the federal waiver expiring on June 30th, 2022. Your family may continue to qualify for free or reduced meal prices, but you must apply at www.myschoolapps.com . This is very important to complete on or before the first day of school.
