Mason Bell Signs Scholarship with Merchant Marine Academy

The United States Merchant Marine Academy, located at Kings Point, New York, along the north shore of Long Island, is one of the five (5) Federal Service Academies.

The Academy’s mission is to educate and graduate leaders of exemplary character who are inspired to serve the national security, marine transportation, and economic needs of The United States as licensed Merchant Marine officers and commissioned officers in the United States Armed Forces.

Nominated by Congresswoman Martha Roby of the Alabama 2nd Congressional District, Mason Bell is one of approximately 250 Appointees selected to attend the Academy from around the nation and around the world, out of approximately 2500 applicants.

Completion of the intensive four (4) year regimental and academic curriculum, which includes three (3) trimesters at sea on U.S. Flagged Merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships, as well as an Internship, leads to a Bachelor of Science Degree, a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer's License as either a Deck Officer or Engineering Officer, and an Ensign's commission in the U.S. Navy.

An Appointment to the Academy is the equivalent of a scholarship worth approximately $280,000 over the 4-year period.

This remarkable achievement reflects great credit upon Mason and demonstrates that he is already living up to the Academy's motto "Acta non Verba" - Deeds, not Words.

Coach John Mask, on behalf of Rear Admiral Jack Buono, the Academy's Superintendent, recognized the Appointment of Mason B. Bell to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Class of 2025.

Congratulations, and Well Done!
