Title II

Preparing, Training and recruiting High Quality Teachers and Principals

The reauthorized Title II Program under the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 combines the former Eisenhower Professional Development Program with the Class Size Reduction Program to provide the largest federal program that supports professional development activities to improve teaching and learning.  The purpose of the program is to increase student academic achievement through strategies such as improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in the classroom and highly qualified principals and assistant principals in schools.

All activities under Title II are based on a needs assessment for professional development and hiring.  Funds will be used to:

  • recruit and hire highly qualified teachers to reduce class size
  • promote retention of highly qualified teachers by implementing a teacher mentoring program
  • provide professional activities that improve the knowledge of teachers and principals and , in appropriate cases, paraprofessionals

The mission of the Tallassee City School District is to provide a quality education, providing the basis for students to become life-long learners as well as moral, ethical, and compassionate people. A partnership of staff, students, parents, and the community will prepare students to become responsible citizens and productive members of the communities in which they live.
