Second-grade students loved the "Fairy Tales and Flapjacks" celebration today. Teachers prepared a special treat for the end of their knowledge domain on fairy tales and tall tales. T.E.S. teachers go above and beyond to make learning enjoyable.
We have had a week full learning at TES. Kindergarten students are being exposed to foundational handwriting skills and learning their months of the year. In the upper elementary classes, students are sharing their solutions to math problems and having instructional talks with their teacher. To reinforce skills, our students participate in a Kahoot review.
Tallassee Elementary Title I and resource teachers are gaining professional development on multi-sensory learning to apply this approach into their classroom.
The Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory instruction transforms beginning readers and students with dyslexia into skilled learners through an effective, fun, multi-sensory approach to reading and spelling. In this in-depth training, teachers have learned the importance of the three part drill that focuses on visual, auditory and blending. Also, basic and advanced phonetic concepts for decoding and encoding.
PreK students are exposed to play-based learning where they carry out their own ideas through play. They explore information in their surroundings in an experiential and exploratory way. Implementing the new Alabama Numeracy Act with quality professional learning is top priority as well.
At T.E.S., we are focused on building fluent readers through collaborative discussions, language comprehension and word recognition.

We had a great day at T.E.S. Open House! The excitement in our students' eyes as they met their teacher and reconnected with friends made today extra special. This is the time where true connections and relationships are made with students, teachers, and parents. Thank you to our faculty and staff for making this day special for all. We are looking forward to an impactful year full of learning.

T.E.S. Summer Learning Academy was a fun-filled multi-sensory learning experience for students. At the conclusion of summer learning, students enjoyed visiting DeSoto Caverns. This experience correlated with the instructional content they learned regarding the rocks and soil thematic unit.
T.E.S. students have been immersed in Summer Learning Academy. Our theme for SLA is T.E.S. Rocks. With this thematic unit, instruction has been geared toward rocks and soil. Students have been exposed to creative writing, phonemic awareness, and book studies for core academic instruction. As an enrichment component of SLA, students participated in math enrichment, social-emotional learning, art, STEM, and physical education.

TES celebrated exceeding our 4th Nine Weeks AR Point Goal of 4,000 points with an awesome field day! Our students earned 5,276 points this quarter! Way to go! Thank you to everyone who played a part in making today special for our students!
Congratulations to our TES students who earned 100+ Accelerated Reader Points this school year! Mrs. Pugh celebrated the 100 Point Club with Louie's Snow Cones for each student. Way to be reader leaders!
