Our students at SMS engaged in the AMSTI Math ACAP Experience yesterday! Students in grades 5-8 participated to learn more about what to expect when they take the math ACAP April 9th-12th! We can't wait to POP with growth! Thank you, AMSTI-AU for providing this experience!

SMS enjoyed a FABULOUS show by the THS Music Department this morning! Our entire school took a trip to enjoy the new TPAC and a great show! We would like to thank Mr. Bird, Mrs. Hill, Dr. Glasscock, all bus drivers, & THS Administration for making this happen! Great job!
SMS 5th graders got quite the treat today as they watched their teachers get “pied” in the face! It was a positive behavior celebration! Students had a blast and created memories they will never forget! Kudos to our amazing teachers for making this happen for our students!

Proud of our 6th graders in Mrs. Davis' 1st period class for winning the competition for reading the most words in the month of February. They read 1,791,623 words on their Read 180 Independent Reading, and they were rewarded today with a treat! Way to go!
The SMS 2024 theme for Black History Month was African Americans & the Arts. SMS celebrated by learning about an African American musician, poet, or dance company each day. We also had a door decorating contest. All of the doors were extremely creative! Congrats to the winners!

Southside Middle School Student Council members read at Tallassee Elementary School today for Read Across America! The students had a great time reading in the classrooms of their former teachers for younger students at TES! What a great opportunity to demonstrate leadership!
