We are extremely proud of all the students who participated in the SMS spelling bee last week. We want to extend a special congratulations to our champion, Cooper Baxley, who will compete and represent SMS at the Elmore County spelling bee in February.

Southside Middle School welcomed Auburn University’s COACH team for a hands-on drug awareness education session. Students learned about the dangers of substance use through interactive activities and real-world discussions. Grateful for this partnership and the vital message it brings to our kids.

SMS Dance Team Tryout Parent Meeting Information

Southside Middle School Fishermen Ben Speake and Easton Thomas take 2nd place in the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Tournament Junior Division on Lake Martin. Congratulations to these two young men and their captain, Coy Thomas.

The day started off with the SMS faculty and staff celebrating Mrs. Christy Nelson's retirement with wonderful food and fellowship. After our students ate lunch, our PTO provided cotton candy for all of our students. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our PTO for generously providing this for our students during our Thanksgiving festivities. Their continued support adds a special touch to our school events and helps create memorable experiences for our students. We also express our gratitude to our student council and Elmore County Commissioner Brad Davis for their generous donations to provide a wonderful steak lunch enjoyed by our faculty. We are truly grateful for the partnership and commitment shown by all who contribute to our school community! Happy Thanksgiving from Southside Middle School!!!







Our Grandparents Luncheon at SMS was a wonderful success! We were thrilled to welcome so many grandparents and special guests to share a meal, enjoy time together, and celebrate the strong connections that support our students. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the staff and volunteers who helped make the event memorable. It was a beautiful day of community, gratitude, and togetherness!
Southside Middle School participated in World Kindness Day by having the Peer Helpers greet students and parents during car rider time with their kindness signs and bright smiles. The Peer Helpers also put kindness walls down the hallways for the students and adults to put kind words and/or kind quotes.

Southside Middle School celebrated its Annual Veterans Day Program on Friday, November 7, in honor of the brave men and women who have served our country. Students showed their gratitude through song, music, the playing of Taps, a dance performance by the Pointed Toe, and the setting of the White Table in remembrance of those who never returned home (POWs and MIAs).
We were honored to have Master Sergeant Earl Dickerson II of the United States Air Force as our guest speaker, who connected with both Veterans and students in a truly engaging way. A special thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this event such a meaningful and unforgettable tribute.

We want to thank our community for all the support for our student athletes over the past few home basketball games! We've had a gym full of fans at each event at SMS this year. Both the girls and the boys teams played very well last night. The girls lost a tough one and the boys beat Wetumpka 45-33. Keep up the hard work boys and girls. GO TIGERS!!!
