SMS had a fantastic day celebrating Read Across America this past Friday! Our students spent the day diving into great books, welcoming in guest readers, and enjoying literacy activities across all content areas!
From cozy reading moments in our pajamas to completing literacy activities and conversations, it was a wonderful reminder that reading can take us anywhere! Our school was filled with excitement as we welcomed parents, family members, community members, and THS students to celebrate the power of stories.
Thank you to our teachers, staff, visitors, and students for making today special and for continuing to foster a love of reading in our school.

What a day at SMS!!! Our faculty and staff returned today to prepare for the last semester of the 2025-2026 school year. We started the day off with our faculty breakfast, and got the privilege to hear Mr. Justin Robinson speak and motivate us. Our teachers and staff participated in various professional development sessions including special education department meetings, ELA/Social Studies teachers learning more about Text Dependent Writing and our Problem Solving Team discussing students in need of intervention. Students return tomorrow and will enter a building full of adults ready to make a positive impact on each of them!
